Timber Construction of the Year 2015 - Wood Veneer Prize

The Estonian Forest and Wood Industries Association has been organising the Timber Construction of the Year competition since 2002 as part of its ‘Puuinfo’ programme. Several prizes for outstanding use of timber materials are awarded. The "UMP-Kymmene Otepää Wood Veneer Prize 2015” was won by the Ministry of Climbing.

The jury described it as a well-functioning solution: “Robust (but with a quality finish) wood veneer boards on a wooden frame. A little cave-like in its aesthetics, but supporting the sports hall's function – to offer an artificial landscape for (mountain or rock) climbers. The language of the climbing landscape is interesting and the role of the wood veneer, in addition to being aesthetically pleasing, is functional.'
